Workshop on “Dynamic Assessments with Calculated MCQs in Moodle” Web Report

The Department of Supportive Requirements at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Shinas, successfully organized a professional development workshop on “Dynamic Assessments with Calculated MCQs in Moodle” conducted on 2nd Dec 2025, 3rd Feb 2026, and 10th Feb 2026. The event, held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in Room No. 218 of the Main Building, was coordinated by the Staff Professional Development and Student Support Committee (SPDSS) as part of its ongoing initiatives to enhance faculty research competence and uphold ethical academic standards.
The workshop featured an insightful session delivered by Dr. Mahesh Garvandha, Lecturer in the Department of Supportive Requirements – Science and Mathematics Unit.
A comprehensive training session on Calculated MCQs was conducted by Dr. Mahesh Garvandha, enabling staff to design and implement dynamic assessment items with confidence. The sessions covered:
- Creating questions using single, double, and multiple wildcards
- Constructing accurate formulas for automated answer calculation
- Generating randomized datasets
- Previewing and validating questions to ensure precision
- Adding calculated MCQs to the question bank
- Testing their functionality within Moodle
Following the sessions, participants are now equipped to independently develop subject-specific calculated questions using one or multiple variables effectively.
