Bachelor HRM Students Visited Sohar Aluminum

On April 10, 2025, Department of Business Administration students—particularly those who are taking Occupational Health and Safety under the leadership of Dr. Cirilo E. Mirano, Jr.—visited Sohar Aluminum (SA) for an educational site tour focused on Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices. During the visit, SA shared its comprehensive policies and proactive strategies for promoting workplace health and safety. Emphasizing that EHS is its top priority, the company highlighted its unwavering commitment to achieving zero accidents. The session featured demonstrations of various engineering controls designed to mitigate risks and hazards in the workplace. Topics also covered occupational hygiene, fire safety measures, and the appropriate use of Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment (PPC/E), including real-life scenarios illustrating their applications. Additionally, SA underscored the critical role of policies and procedures in ensuring the effective implementation of their EHS Management Systems. The interactive discussion provided students with the opportunity to raise questions and clarify key issues surrounding occupational health and safety.
