Workshop on Effective Energy Auditing: From Assessment to Action

 

Department of Engineering and Technology of UTAS–Shinas successfully conducted the 2-day training program “Effective Energy Auditing: From Assessment to Action” on 8–9 February, 2026 as part of its extended services and ongoing collaboration with industry. The program was designed to equip professionals with practical skills to conduct effective energy audits in industrial utilities, identify energy-saving opportunities, and translate audit findings into actionable improvement plans. The 3 industrial and 4 internal participants attended the program. The industrial participants are from OQ and Sohar Operation Services (SOS).

The training was delivered through a structured course plan that included four key modules (2 hours each):

  1. General Aspects of Energy Management and Energy Audit – Overview and International Certifications
  2. Energy Efficiency in Thermal Utilities
  3. Energy Efficiency in Electrical Utilities
  4. Energy Performance Assessment for Equipment and Utility Systems

The program featured experienced resource persons from UTAS–Shinas:

  • Mr. Arun S. Gopinath
  • Mr. Mahesh Aphale
  • Dr. M.S. Jayakumar
  • Mr. T. Raja

The resource persons’ ability to blend academic and industrial expertise to deliver energy-focused sessions and practical insights on industrial auditing in utilities made the training program more interactive and technically valuable for the industrial participants.
