UTAS Shinas Faculty Engage with Industry Leaders at Oman Tax Seminar 2025

MUSCAT – In a significant step towards enriching its upcoming postgraduate programs, faculty members from the Department of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) Shinas actively participated in the Oman Tax Seminar 2025 on November 11. Held at the InterCity Hotel Muscat, the event served as a pivotal platform for the university's delegation, comprising Dr. Joefrelin Ines, Dr. Farhana Sultana, and Dr. Cirilo E. Mirano Jr., to engage with national tax authorities and industry experts. The participation was a direct engagement activity for the preparation of the university's new MSc in Customs and Taxation and MBA programs, designed to ensure the curricula are aligned with the latest national economic policies and industry demands.
The faculty's involvement was strongly supported by the university's leadership. The initiative received the endorsement of Dr. Kawthar Al Ajmi, Deputy to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research, and Innovation, following a recommendation from Dr. Aziza Al Qamshouie, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research, and Innovation. The engagement was fully backed by Dr. Ahmed Al Balushi, Assistant Vice Chancellor at UTAS Shinas, highlighting the institution's institutional commitment to developing industry-relevant academic offerings. This strategic participation is expected to provide invaluable insights that will directly shape the development of the new postgraduate degrees, ensuring they meet the highest standards of academic excellence and practical application in Oman's evolving economic landscape.
