Industrial Committee of the Department of Engineering and Technology

The Department of Engineering and Technology of UTAS–Shinas conducted a workshop on 5S Readiness as part of its extended services and ongoing collaboration with the industrial community. The program is being delivered for industrial participants to strengthen workplace organization, safety, and efficiency through practical 5S implementation.

The workshop covers the full 5S framework — Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shinseki along with 5S audit metrics, case studies, and a step-by-step roadmap to help participants implement 5S practices in their workplaces. The sessions include structured guidance on sorting and organizing work areas, improving cleanliness as a method of inspection, developing standards and visual controls, and building discipline to sustain improvements over time. Including audit metrics helps participants evaluate progress and maintain consistency through periodic assessments.

  • Dates: February 4th and 5th, 2026
  • Time: 08:30 AM – 01:00 PM (daily)
  • Total Duration: 8 hours

The training is conducted by Mr. Mahesh Aphale and Mr. Dayaprasad Narasiman, lecturers in the Department of Engineering and Technology at UTAS–Shinas. Participants in the program are from Sohar Operation Services and Voltamp Power SAOC. The event reflects UTAS–Shinas’s ongoing engagement with industry needs by providing targeted capacity-building programs that support workplace excellence and continuous improvement.
