How Do You Cross the Bridge? Between Reality and Expectation

 

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Career Guidance Department organized an insightful awareness lecture presented by Engineer Safiya Al-Jabriya (a software engineer and a certified trainer by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation). The lecture was attended by a large number of students from various majors and academic levels, reflecting their interest and eagerness to benefit from such vital and significant topics for their future paths.

 

Lecture Topics:
The lecture addressed several key areas aimed at preparing students for post-graduation life, as follows:

 

Reality After Graduation:
Trainer Safiya highlighted the challenges graduates may face in the job market, pointing out the gap between academic life and the workplace, and emphasizing the importance of psychological and professional readiness for this stage.

 

Identifying Direction and Career Path:
She discussed the importance of students understanding their strengths and interests in order to choose the right field or career path, and she provided some tools and advice to help make this crucial decision.

 

Acquiring Market-Required Skills:
The trainer explained the importance of possessing both technical and soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and programming or other market-relevant competencies.

 

Building Professional Relationships and Networks:
She emphasized the role of professional relationships in opening career opportunities and advised students to participate in conferences, workshops, and professional events to build a strong network.

 

Dealing with Failure and Disappointment After Graduation:
The lecture concluded with an honest discussion about the psychological challenges graduates may face. She stressed the importance of accepting failure as part of the journey to success and using it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

 

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Muna Al-Maamari (Assistant Vice President for Electronic Systems and Student Services) extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to Trainer Safiya Al-Jabriya for delivering such valuable and enriching content. She also presented her with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her efforts.
