Workshop titled “Writing Research Proposals with Academic Integrity”

 

The Department of Supportive Requirements at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Shinas, successfully organized a professional development workshop titled “Writing Research Proposals with Academic Integrity” on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The event, held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Theatre Hall of the Engineering Building, was coordinated by the Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) as part of its ongoing initiatives to enhance faculty research competence and uphold ethical academic standards.

The workshop featured an insightful session by Dr. Mohammad Hifz Ur Rahman, an eminent scholar currently serving at the Department of Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, NUST, Sohar. Notably, he has been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University for four consecutive years (2022–2025).

During the session, Dr. Rahman provided valuable insights into structuring high-quality research proposals while maintaining academic integrity at every stage—from literature review to data management and publication ethics. He emphasized the importance of transparency, originality, and adherence to institutional and international ethical standards.

Dr. Rahman’s practical suggestions on proposal formulation, plagiarism prevention, and ethical authorship were highly appreciated by the participants, who found the session relevant and impactful for their teaching and research practices.

The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Sulaiman Al Raisi, Head of the Department of Supportive Requirements. The program was coordinated by Dr. Mushtaq Hussain, Committee Coordinator, along with active support from committee members Dr Pandian Vaidhyanathan and Dr Mahesh Garvandha. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution and success of the event.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Sulaiman Al Raisi commended the Teaching and Learning Committee for organizing such an enriching session and thanked Dr. Rahman for his insightful contribution. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Dr Mahesh Garvandha, followed by certificate distribution to participants. Thanks to Dr. Kalathil Santhosh Kumar for his valuable support in conducting the event.

Through initiatives like this, UTAS Shinas continues to empower its faculty and reinforce its mission to uphold the highest standards in education and research, fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and excellence in the academic community.
