UTAS Shinas Lecturer Highlights the Power of Professional Etiquette in a Globalized Workplace

SHINAS, OMAN – In an increasingly interconnected world, mastering professional etiquette is a critical skill for career success. This was the central theme of a recent virtual talk delivered by Ms. Fatma Al Ajmi, a esteemed lecturer from the Department of Economics and Business Administration (DEBA) at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) - Shinas.
The webinar, titled "The Power of Professional Etiquette: Communication, Time Management, and Teamwork in a Multicultural Workplace," was organized by the Department of Economics and Business Administration (DEBA) through the Community Engagement Committee at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) – Shinas and Philippine Professionals Organization (PPO) in the Sultanate of Oman in collaboration with the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICPEP) - Oman.
Held last Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM via Cisco Webex, the event attracted a diverse and engaged audience of professionals from across the region. Participants included engineers, IT specialists, educators, and faculty members from DEBA, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives. The international gathering represented a multitude of countries, including Oman, India, the Philippines, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, making the multicultural focus of the talk particularly relevant.
Ms. Al Ajmi, an expert in her field, delved into the core components of modern professional conduct. Her presentation emphasized that etiquette extends beyond mere politeness; it is a strategic tool for building effective professional relationships.
The collaboration between academic and professional organizations highlighted a shared commitment to continuous learning and professional development. The event was accredited with five Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units, underscoring its value for licensed professionals seeking to enhance their competencies.
