Provide high-quality education and training that will enhance the graduate's creativity and logical ability and enable him/her to communicate effectively and be technically and aesthetically competent in Architectural Engineering.

To meet professional standards and to function in multidisciplinary teams as well as independently, to produce complex and creative Architectural design and solutions.

The program also enables successful graduates to pursue higher studies in a specialised program.

The program should enable the students to:

  •  Understand and provide solutions for Large scale and complex Architectural design and planning projects, working individually as well as in a team with compliance to Architectural standards, by-laws, and professional building codes/practices.
  •  Apply Architectural design principles and theories under supervision in a professional environment to produce and interpret digital architectural drawings (2D & 3D) for the presentations.
  •  Understand and apply the knowledge of building construction, building services, History of Architecture, Professional Practice, Landscape Design, Conservation & Rehabilitation of Traditional Architecture, Working Drawings, and Electives.
  •  Apply research methodology and incorporate complete Architectural understanding for their individual graduation project.
  •  Demonstrate the ability to employ detailed digital and physical mass models.
  •  Acquire technical knowledge to promote long-term learning and progress towards higher studies/ On the JOB training.
  •  Explore and adapt to emerging technologies and skills in the field of Architectural Engineering.

The graduates will have the ability to:

  •  Function and communicate individually as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
  •  Acknowledge the ethical responsibility towards Architectural standards, bye-laws, and professional building codes/practices.
  •  Have the knowledge of Sustainability, Housing, Conservation, and Contemporary issues relating to Architectural Engineering.
  •  Produce and interpret detailed digital architectural drawings and mass models for a professional presentation.
  •  Design and apply knowledge of building construction, building services, History of Architecture, working drawings, conservation and rehabilitation, landscape design, urban design, Bye-laws, professional practice and Electives
  •  Present and analyse design ideas/concepts verbally as well as visually.
  •  Produce creative, aesthetic, and functional architectural drawings (Plans, Elevations, Sections, 3D, Interior view, Walkthrough, etc.)
  •  Analyse the issues logically, rationally, and creatively for large-scale and complex Architectural design and planning projects.
  •  Supervise work on site after gaining sufficient experience under the guidance of professionals.
  •  Foster critical thinking and cultivate an approach to present and support their design that values the role of research, analysis, and experimental proposals for their graduation projects.
  •  Write building specifications under the supervision of professionals.

Allotment to the Architecture Engineering specialisation is based on the CGPA scored by the student in First Year Diploma. Requirements to progress to Advanced Diploma in Architectural Engineering:

  •  Students must complete Advanced Diploma in Architectural Engineering successfully with CGPA ≥ 2.75 on a scale of 4.
  •  IELTS band Score ≥ 5 or the FDL Mark should be ≥ 71.
  •  Lateral entry of students is governed by UTAS bylaws.
