This program aims to provide high quality education and equip graduates with integrated knowledge in science, engineering and technology that will inculcate best practices in students and develop excellent problem-solving and reasoning skills. This program imparts a blend of technologies, underpinning knowledge and research skills for a higher-level competence and motivating them to pursue higher education and lifelong learning.

 

 

The program should enable the students to:

 

  •  Demonstrate and apply the learned computer engineering specialised knowledge in designing and implementing modern computer systems.
  •  Utilise a broad range of cognitive and technical skills to solve problems and disseminate information using advanced communication technologies.

  •  Utilise appropriate communication skills to disseminate information for diverse audiences in leadership roles and enable them to work individually or in a team.
  •  Develop professional skills through lifelong learning to adapt with innovation and respond to the challenges of a rapidly changing environment.
  •  Apply professional, ethical, social standards and promote them to maintain timely working schedules with advanced entrepreneurial and creative skills.

 

The graduates will have the ability to:

 

  •  Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering in computer-based systems and analyse system performance trade-offs.
  •  Design system components, processes and solutions for engineering problems that meet specific needs with appropriate consideration for the public health, safety, cultural, societal,and environmental considerations.
  •  Utilise the techniques, skills, advanced information, latest software, and modern engineering tools required for Computer Engineering systems.
  •  Develop skills to experiment, evaluate, and interpret results in Computer Engineering principles that underpin knowledge and self-learning to enhance a successful career in computer engineering.
  •  Identify, formulate, and solve specialised Computer Engineering problems to promote advanced entrepreneurial skills.
  •  Analyse and prepare reports to make effective presentations with a wide range of audience.
  •  Demonstrate knowledge of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues in Computer Engineering and related disciplines.

 

Allotment to the Computer Engineering specialisation is based on the CGPA scored by the student in First Year Diploma. Requirements to progress to Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering:

 

  •  Students must complete Diploma in Computer Engineering successfully with CGPA ≥ 2.5 in scale of 4.
  •  IELTS band Score ≥4.5 or the FDL Mark should be ≥ 64.
  •  Lateral entry of students is governed by UTAS bylaws.
