The Department of Information Technology at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sur organizes a programming competition
At a time when global interest in software specialization is increasing and the demand around the world for professional programmers is increasing, the need arises to raise the level of programming skills among students at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sur to compete in local and international competitions, the most prominent of which is the ICPC competition, which is a competition specializing in programming for universities around the world and organizes Annually since 1970 AD.
The ICPC competition is held in several stages, starting from the local level at Sultan Qaboos University, then the winning teams compete at the Gulf and Arab regional levels, then the competition takes place at the global level in the most prestigious universities around the world. Students participating in this competition put in a lot of training, preparation, and effort. It also attracts interest from technology business institutions, and the winners get unique opportunities for training and employment in prestigious companies.
As part of the Information Technology Department’s efforts at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sur to increase students’ interest in programming and encourage them to strive to develop competitive skills in it, the department organized a programming competition at the university branch level in Tire.
A number of students participated in the competition, where the judging committee from the faculty of the Information Technology Department, consisting of Dr. Sayed Hamid, Dr. Muhammad Abbas, and Dr. Hidayath Ali, presented six challenges, and the students must solve the largest number of these programming challenges. The results were as follows: first place went to student Hiam Raad Al-Ismail, second place went to student Ali Ibrahim Lasaker, and third place went to student Rima bint Ahmed Al-Tarshiyya.
It is worth noting that such competitions seek to encourage students to develop their programming skills, paving the way for a promising future.
