The Graphic Design Program in UTAS, aims to prepare students to become professional visual designers and communicators, who are able to practice and follow the design process and solve problems to create printed or digital design outcomes, which will serve and impact the industry, their society and environment.

 

 

  •  Students can relate design with culture, art, history, and design trends, and apply them to develop techniques and methods for creative problem-solving.
  •  Students can express concepts with confidence and employ them in 2D printed and digital designs applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills throughout the design process.
  •  Students can conduct research and identify the problem using critical thinking to come up with efficient solutions to answer the design brief.
  •  Students can criticise design projects of their own and others and evaluate the design outcomes in relation to the intended audience.
  •  Students can collect the project’s set of standards and requirements to construct style guides.
  •  Students can participate in teamwork to make decisions toward shared objectives with professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  •  can organize and manage resources based on time management skills and perform post-production techniques.

 

Graduates of Graphic Design Program will be able to:

 

  •  Solve graphic design problems within their field of art and design, including research and synthesis of technical, aesthetic, and conceptual knowledge, then execute the solutions based on the understanding of design principles & elements.
  •  Express their ideas or visual concepts professionally, and demonstrate visual, oral, and written presentation skills relevant to their field, identity and culture.
  •  Employ visual concepts of the organization relevant to the conceptual intent, functional requirements of the content, sustainability and intellectual property.
  •  Create various graphic design products according to specifications of products and marketing requirements.
  •  Demonstrate ability to apply traditional art fundamentals to digital media, perspective, Critical thinking, assessment of work, and professional presentation of work.
  •  Recognize the methods and strategies behind successful designs and artwork and manage time to complete a project before the deadline.
  •  Use different software applications to achieve the graphic design outcomes, prepare files for printing and screen display purposes, and use peripheral devices for sourcing and storage as required.
  •  Evaluate work in their field, using professional terminology, and articulate group or self-directed projects to become more involved in the decision making process.
  •  Demonstrate professional and entrepreneurship skills and behaviors necessary to compete in the local and global marketplace of art and design.

 

The entry requirement from the Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC) is General Education Diploma, Royal Guard Technical College Diploma

- with (Not less than C) in:

English language - Arts or Engineering drawing And

- with (Not less than D) in:

Pure or Applied Mathematics or Mathematics Arabic language

  •  Eligible students will undergo design entrance exams. The students with the highest score will be accepted in the design program.
  •  Upon entering the program, the students are required to successfully complete a foundation program.
