UTAS–Nizwa Hosts Quality Awareness Day to Strengthen Institutional Quality Culture

 

The Department of Economics and Business Administration, UTAS–Nizwa, through the department’s Quality Assurance Team, successfully conducted Quality Awareness Day, an initiative focused on strengthening the institution’s culture of quality. The event emphasized improved understanding of UTAS quality frameworks, increased awareness of quality in academic practices, and reinforcement of institutional values through experiential and interactive learning.

The program, held last 18th November, 2025, ran from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the UTAS–Nizwa South Campus and was organized with the support of Dr. Mohammed Ali Obaid, Head of the Department of Economics and Business Administration (DEBA), and Ms. Zuwaina Al Busaidi, Head of Quality Assurance. The event was led by QA Team Chairs Ms. Kavitha Rajan (DEBA) and Dr. Varghese Riju (Mass Communication).

Interactive Activities to Promote Quality Awareness

Throughout the event, QA Team members — Dr. Vikram Mohite, Mr. Ubais, Dr. Abdulkadir Shehu Abdulwahab, and Dr. Mohamed Rafiq — facilitated several engaging activities designed to deepen students’ understanding of UTAS’s quality standards:

  • • Memory Recall Activity A challenge that tested participants’ ability to remember key quality concepts.
  • • QA Terminologies Challenge An activity that explored essential quality assurance terms such as accreditation, benchmarks, and academic excellence.
  • • Quality Word Puzzle A puzzle integrating UTAS quality processes and institutional standards.
  • • Gap-Filling Exercise A guided activity reinforcing understanding of UTAS’s vision, mission, values, accreditation processes, KPIs, and benchmarks.


Students and staff participated actively, engaging in discussions and collaborative tasks that highlighted the importance of maintaining quality across all academic functions.
