UTAS Nizwa Engineering Students Showcase Engineering Innovation at HIMMA Poster Competition – OPES 2026

The Young Professionals Committee (NYP) under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals organized the HIMMA Student Poster Competition during OPES 2026, which was held on 18 May 2026 in Muscat. The competition focused on the theme “Innovative Ideas and Research in Energy, Digital Transformation, and Minerals Sectors,” encouraging students to present creative and sustainable technological solutions.
A team from the Engineering Department participated in the competition with the project titled “Solar Based Wireless Charging Station for Electric Vehicles.” The project aimed to promote sustainable transportation by integrating solar energy with wireless charging technology for electric vehicles. The proposed system focused on improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and supporting the future development of smart and green mobility solutions.
The student team members were Salim Ali Salim Al Kindi, Nasr Mansoor Nasser Al-Farsi, Houd Hamed Mabrook Alkharusi, Daoud Sulaiman Khalifa Al Mani, and Al-Qasim Hamed Khalfan Alsuleimani, under the supervision of Dr. Vimalakeerthy Devadoss.
The project received excellent feedback from the judges and participants and was awarded Third Prize in the competition, recognizing the team’s innovation, technical effort, and contribution to sustainable energy solutions.
