Engineering Department Successfully Hosts the Third Session of the Engineering Department Research Forum (EDRF)

 

The Engineering Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Nizwa, successfully organized the third session of the Engineering Department Research Forum (EDRF) on 19th May 2026 at Adam Hall, North Campus. The event brought together faculty members and researchers to share knowledge, discuss emerging research trends, and strengthen the department’s research culture.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Muhammad Khurram, Research Coordinator of the Engineering Department. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of research forums in promoting academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation.

The audience was then addressed by the Head of the Engineering Department, Dr. Wisam Fahmi Ibrahim Al-Azzo, who emphasized the significance of active research engagement and collaboration in supporting the university’s strategic objectives and contributing to national development priorities.

The forum featured insightful presentations by distinguished faculty members from different engineering disciplines: • Dr. Sadasivam Subbarayan – Electrical and Electronic Engineering Section • Dr. Darsan Rajeevan Sheela – Mechanical Engineering Section

The speakers shared their ongoing research work, highlighting contemporary challenges, innovative solutions, and the practical applications of their research in academia, industry, and society. The presentations stimulated meaningful discussions and encouraged knowledge exchange among participants.

As a token of appreciation, the speakers were presented with certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields by the Head of the Engineering Department and Heads of Academic Units in recognition of their valuable contributions to the forum.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Muhammad Khurram, who expressed his gratitude to the speakers, organizing committee, and participants for their support and active involvement in making the event a success.

The Engineering Department remains committed to strengthening its research culture through such initiatives and looks forward to organizing more research forums in the coming semesters to foster innovation, collaboration, and scholarly excellence.
