Report of the Session on MOHERI TRC BLOCK FUNDING

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) – Nizwa, through the Professional Development Team in coordination with Research and Consultancy Team, successfully conducted an online orientation session on MOHERI TRC Block Funding on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The session was delivered by Dr. Rolando Jr. Lontok, Senior Lecturer at UTAS–Nizwa. The orientation aimed to familiarize faculty members with the funding opportunities available under MOHERI’s Block Funding scheme. The session provided comprehensive guidance on various grant categories, including:
- • Research Grant (RG)
- • Master’s and PhD Grant (GRG)
- • Undergraduate Research Grant (UG)
Participants were informed about eligibility criteria, funding scope, application timelines, and key submission requirements. Special emphasis was placed on understanding MOHERI’s prescribed proposal template and aligning research proposals with funding priorities and evaluation criteria. Practical insights were shared to assist faculty members in planning and scheduling their proposal development effectively.
The session continued with the second part by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Nahari who also highlighted the best practices for preparing competitive research proposals and encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance funding success rates.
The primary expected outcome of the orientation is an increase in high-quality research proposal submissions to MOHERI Block Funding grants from UTAS–Nizwa. The initiative reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its research culture and enhancing external funding acquisition.
The session concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants and renewed enthusiasm among faculty members to actively pursue MOHERI-funded research opportunities.
The session was organized under the Spring 2026 research activities calendar and coordinated by Dr. Sonia Victor Soans.
