UTAS Engineering Department Conducts Awareness Seminar on TRC-Block Funding Call 2026

 

The Engineering Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Nizwa, successfully organized an awareness session on the TRC-Block Funding Call 2026. The session was held on March 31, 2026, at Adam Hall, North Campus, and was delivered by the Head of the Engineering Department, Dr. Wisam Fahmi Ibrahim Al-Azzo.

The seminar was conducted in two sessions, one for Diploma and Advanced Diploma students and the other for faculty members. In both sessions, Dr. Wisam aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of research funding opportunities and guide them in preparing competitive research proposals. He also encouraged faculty members by highlighting the importance of research in their academic and professional career development.

A number of Diploma and Advanced Diploma students attended the session, reflecting strong interest in research and innovation activities.

During the session, Dr. Wisam provided a comprehensive overview of the TRC funding schemes, including eligibility criteria, team formation, and key requirements for proposal submission. He emphasized the importance of selecting research topics aligned with national priorities and encouraged students to collaborate with faculty mentors.

The speaker also explained the structure of a research proposal, covering essential components such as the title, abstract, problem statement, literature review, methodology, and project timeline. In addition, detailed guidance was provided on budget preparation, highlighting the funding limit and allowable expenses

The seminar concluded with a discussion on effective project planning, including setting milestones and implementation strategies. Students actively engaged throughout the session and gained valuable insights into the research process.

This initiative reflects the department’s continued commitment to fostering a strong research culture and encouraging student participation in innovation and funded research programs.
