Incorporating AI Tools in Teaching and Learning

A training session on “Incorporating AI Tools in Teaching and Learning” was successfully conducted on 11 November 2025, organized by the Professional Development Committee, Department of Engineering, University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS). Dr.Fakrudeen, PDC team coordinator of Engineering Department was the moderator for the session. The session began with an welcome speech by Dr.Mohammed Ismail Iqbal, the engineering department's PDC Team Co coordinator. The resource person was introduced to the participants by engineering department's PDC Team member, Dr.Shaista.
The session was conducted by Dr. Jeba Sonia, Associate Professor from SRM university, India, who shared her expertise in AI applications for education and research. Her insightful presentation provided participants with hands-on exposure to various AI-driven teaching aids and productivity tools. The session provided practical demonstrations and discussions on several leading AI platforms, including:
ChatGPT (OpenAI): For generating lesson plans, quizzes, explanations, and summaries.
Google Gemini: For integrating multimodal AI features to enhance research and presentation design.
Claude AI (Anthropic): For drafting academic content, reviewing student work, and supporting critical thinking exercises.
Eduaide AI: For automating worksheet creation, formative assessments, and feedback generation tailored to student learning levels.
Gamma: For designing visually appealing and AI-generated presentation slides suitable for classroom and academic conferences.
Quizizz AI: For developing interactive quizzes, gamified assessments, and real-time performance tracking.
Participants were also introduced to strategies for combining these tools to design AI-assisted lesson plans, evaluate student responses, and promote active learning through personalized educational experiences. The training on “Incorporating AI Tools in Teaching and Learning” proved to be an enriching experience that empowered faculty members to embrace AI technologies in their professional practice.
