AI tools for literature review Writing: A Faster, Smarter Approach

 

The Engineering Department's Professional Development Committee, in partnership with UTAS-Nizwa's Human Resource Department, organised a training session on " AI tools for literature review Writing: A Faster, Smarter Approach " on February 05, 2025. Dr.Fakrudeen Coordinator of Engineering PDC Team was the moderator of the training Session., Dr.Mohammed Ismail Iqbal Co-Cordinator, PDC Team from the engineering department, presented a welcome address to commence the session. Mr.Taufeeq Ahmed, a member of the engineering PDC team, introduced the speaker to the participants. Dr. Hytham Elbohy, Senior lecturer in the engineering department of UTAS-Nizwa conducted the training session. Passionate educators from UTAS-Nizwa took part in this webinar.

In today's fast-paced academic world, conducting in-depth literature reviews can be a time-consuming task. However, with the advent of advanced AI tools, researchers can streamline this process and enhance the quality of their work. This training focused with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize AI tools. The initial steps in the literature review process, such as choosing a topic, defining scope and purpose, and conducting an initial literature search, were discussed. Looking for the Right Sources AI tools like Elicit, SciSpace, and Consensus, which can help in identifying relevant sources for literature review, were presented. Mapping Tools such as Litmaps and Research Rabbit, for visually mapping connections between sources, were introduced. Reading and Comprehending AI tools like SciSpace, ChatPDF, Scite AI, and NotebookLM that help in reading and understanding the content of research papers, were focused on. The role of AI tools like Napkin AI and Graphmaker AI in creating visuals for review was introduced. The steps involved in writing review articles, from outlining and structuring to revising and editing, were explained. How the use of AI tools can optimize the process of writing literature reviews and help save time, was briefly described. A summary of the benefits of using AI tools when writing review articles, emphasizing their role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the process, was concluded with.

The training program was highly informative and tailored to the requirements of all participants. A vote of thanks was presented by Mr.Prashath Murthy, the engineering department's PDC member, to conclude the session.
