Teamwork and Health Related Work Environment

 

Introduction: The keynote was conducted on 2nd March 2023, 9:00 – 11:00 Am, at Auditorium _ UTAS Muscat Campus, which aimed to enhance the participants' understanding and knowledge of the importance of teamwork to successful achieve goal and objective.  

Two speeches were conducted: The Culture of Silence at Work and Team Dynamics and Institutional Agility

Reasons Why this keynote is important for university.

1. More People, More Ideas with more people involved in the same project, you get different perspectives and feedback on the same topic. This opens up a lot of opportunities and problem-solving approaches.

2. Improved Efficiency Means Better Results.

3. Better Work Environment.

4. Being on the Same Page.

5. Great Learning Opportunities.

6. Teamwork Promotes Good Synergy.


The summary of the “The Culture of Silence at Work ” presentation:  It described the meaning of culture of silence observed at work and highlighted the key elements that trigger people to become silent and discouraged from sharing their points of views and work-related thoughts. At the end, the presentation concluded with tips and suggestions on transforming the culture of silence towards becoming a culture of dialogue and having authentic and work-related conversations.

The summary of the “Team Dynamics and Institutional Agility” presentation: It briefed on the various aspects of team dynamics and institutional agility, highlighting the importance, principles, and benefits. The presentation also touched on the importance of institutional agility in adapting to change, responding to challenges, and embracing new opportunities. 

Summary of Discussion: The modulator discussed with the speakers three main points, 

  1. The effect of the COVID Pandemic on teamwork
  2. The techniques are needed to consider in forming a team. Specifically, the effect of the right leader and the right mix of team members of the output of any project assigned to that team.
  3. The guidelines that UTAS sets for inspiring and motivating teamwork.

Feedback on the keynote event: The event was conducted successfully. It activated the platform of dialogue among the academic staff. More interestingly, it created an interest and curiosity in the audience. After the speakers shared their presentations, the moderator directed the discussion to become a two-way communication discussion between the speakers, the moderator and the dean of the university. After that, the discussion was directed towards the audience to reflect and ask questions related to the topics presented. The keynote concluded with a summary of the key takeaways and a call to action for the participants to implement the learnings in their workplace stations Finally, the event was ended with informal and friendly conversations between the staff and snacks and refreshments at the VIP hall area.

Overall, the keynote provided valuable insights into the importance of enhancing the skills in teamwork and agility in today's dynamic work environment. It equipped the participants with practical tools to drive positive change within their organizations. 

Conclusion

The teamwork and related health work environment proposal is planned to be conducted in two phases. Phase I, the keynote will be at UTAS-Muscat for all UTAS-Muscat Staff placed in UTAS-Muscat, Auditorium. 

Phase II will be conducted among the whole UTAS, including other branches' Staff that welcoming to attend. Phase I was successfully achieved with the presence of the Dean of UTAS-Muscat. The next step is preparing for a high-level keynote from HR Section in Business Department at UTAS-Muscat.
