Preparatory Studies Centre - Extempore competition

Extempore speaking is about good communication skills, clarity of thought, and the ability to express one’s own viewpoint in a stipulated time. It puts to test one’s ability to think on the spot and also their spontaneity. To imbibe a true spirit of learning in students and to enhance their communication skills an extempore competition was held for the students of Level 3 & 4 on Tuesday 21st November, 2023 by the Event Management Committee of the Preparatory Study Center. The objective of the competition was to make the students confident and better orators so that they could fearlessly express their views on any topic. All participants were given topics in advance to prepare. However, the topic to present was picked from the given topics on the spot and they were asked to present their views in the time slot of 2 minutes. The participants delivered their speeches with great confidence. They were judged on the criteria of content, language, coherence of ideas, and delivery. The judges of the competition were Ms. Hanaa Al Khayari, Mr. Zeyad Ali Al Shehhi, and Ms. Asma Al Breiki. The students showed great enthusiasm and confidence in their respective performances. The enthusiastic participation of students made the event an enriching learning experience. The competition concluded successfully with great words of encouragement and appreciation from teachers and respected judges. The result of the competition is as follows:
