Pharmacy Department-World Pharmacist Day

The Pharmacy Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS)- Muscat Branch celebrated World Pharmacist Day on 25 September of every year. The event was held in the Auditorium and organized by the faculty members and students. The World Pharmacy Day event kicked off at 10:00 am with an exciting opening ceremony, presented by pharmacy students Mohammed Al Zadjali and Jihan Al Balushi. The ceremony set the tone for the day's activities, which aimed to showcase the achievements and contributions of the pharmacy program in the last 20 years at UTAS Muscat. Also, sharing of experience and motivation session by pharmacy alumni and students. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Khalid AL Abri -Deputy of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Afra Al Adawi - Dean of Applied Sciences and Pharmacy; Dr. Laila al - Head of Applied Sciences Department; and Dr. Wafa Al Rawahi - Head of Chemistry section.
Key Highlights of the Event:
Dr. Muna Arif Mansoor Al-Juma, the Head of the Pharmacy Department, took the stage to discuss the milestones achieved by the pharmacy program. Her informative presentation highlighted the program's growth and impact. The event continued with alumni sharing their experiences. Pharmacy graduates Ph. Hamed AL-Khanjari and Ph. Juma AL-Shukaili spoke about their journeys and the valuable lessons they gained during their time at UTAS. Current pharmacy students, Renad AL-Wahabi and Janat AL-Rahbi, shared their own experiences and insights into their educational journey, providing valuable perspectives for fellow students and aspiring pharmacists. Ph. Ahmed AL Hinai, representing the Oman Pharmaceutical Society (OPS), discussed the crucial role OPS plays in enforcing pharmacy standards and promoting the pharmacy profession in Oman. The event took a fun turn with the "Pharmacy Champions" segment, featuring Doha AL-Mahroqi and AL-Zahraa AL-Handhali. They engaged the audience in entertaining games and activities, bringing an element of excitement to the proceedings. After the engaging sessions, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved lunch and network with their peers and colleagues. This provided a platform for meaningful interactions and discussions among participants.
The World Pharmacy Day event at UTAS Muscat served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of the pharmacy program, foster connections among students and professionals, and shed light on the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare. It was a day filled with education, inspiration, and reaffirming the commitment of the Pharmacy Department to excellence in pharmacy education and practice.
