Pharmacovigilance workshop

The Pharmacy Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS)- Muscat Branch organized a pharmacovigilance workshop on Monday, 24/2/2025 in the Pharmacy Multimedia Room (PHM) at the pharmacy department. The aim of the workshop is to equip the students with the essential knowledge and skills to practice pharmacovigilance. Students learned how to report drug related issues such adverse effects, and quality issues using the pharmacovigilance reporting system (VigiFlow). This activity is part of the UTAS strategic aim to enhance the professional/skills practices of pharmacy students before graduation. The workshop was presented by two guest speakers from the Ministry of Health (MoH) –Drug Safety Center (Ph. Rania Al Balushi and Ph. Nathalie Khawam). All students were registered with the VigiFlow data management system and became familiar with using the platform and reporting. The workshop was organized and supervised by the faculty of the Department: Dr. Muna Al Juma (Assistant dean-College of Sciences and Pharmacy), Ph. Hisham A. Razzak (Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice), and Ph. Suzan El Tahir (Lecturer in Pharmaceutical industry).
