Orange for Text Analytics-A Workshop For Beginners

The CEBA Muscat branch organized a workshop on “ORANGE FOR TEXT ANALYTICS-A WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS”. This workshop was presented by Dr S. Porkodi , HRM section, Muscat Branch. The main theme of this workshop is to encourage all the faculties to have a good knowledge on research oriented platform.

Dr Porkodi started the session with the brief introduction about the Orange platform to perform data analysis and visualization. And, she focused the following points during the session.

• Text analysis software – Text mining and Text Analytics.
• Text mining procedures.
• Data preprocessing, Filtering, Tokenization, stemming and Normalization.
• Content score – Bag of words, analyzing terms, assigning weights and Relevance score.
• Orange software Add on for text analysis.
• Practical session on Orange Software analysis
• Feature statistics – inputting data and deriving outputs.
• Text analysis with text mining widgets.
• Basic text analysis like word cloud, bag of words, sentiment analysis, concordance, duplicate detention and social media analysis.
• How to write interpretation.

The session was informative and effective. Questions were raised by the faculties and the doubts are clarified. To conclude, Dr Porkodi presented the workshop in an effective way which definitely enrich the knowledge on the text analytics using ORANGE platform.
