Introduction to Literature Matrix Review

The CEBA Muscat branch in coordination with the Research and Consultancy Committee organized sequential training programs on “Introduction to literature matrix review & The era between master’s and PhD”. The felicitators are Dr Azza Al Busaidi Lecturer of CEBA, Muscat Branch and Dr Essam AL Lawti, Lecturer of CEBA, Muscat Brach. The main theme of this training program is to enhance research knowledge among staff. The Venue, Date and Time of the workshop is on the 27thth of April, 10 AM to 12 PM at BS26.
SESSION I: INTRODUCTION TO LITERATURE MATRIX REVIEW
Dr Azza started the session with the brief introduction of the Matrix method of literature review, how it is going to help the faculties in their research. And she focused the session with the following points:
- Matrix method of Literature Review, using a conceptual scaffolding at the start of the Research project.
- Matrix method an eagle eye view.
- The process of constructing the matrix
- Searching the reviews through key words & search strings.
- Google scholar search hacks
- Selection criteria for quality papers.
- Finally, a practical session to create a table of matrix.
SESSION II: THE ERA BETWEEN MASTER’S AND PHD
Dr Essam started the second session with the brief introduction of the research and to upgrade the knowledge on Research, the era between Masters and Ph.D. And he focused the session with the following points:
- What to do after the Master degree.
- How to prepare for the Ph D on the Academic aspect and Non Academic aspects.
- Academic aspect focusing on the point of interest.
- Starting the Ph D journey, Do’s and Don’ts.
- The issues to be aware in the Research Methodology.
- Refereeing software and to be linked with MS word.
The sessions are interesting and enthusiastic. Questions were raised by the faculties and the doubts are clarified. To conclude, Dr Azza and Dr Essam conducted the training in an effective positive way and it was informative to all the faculties to upgrade the knowledge in Research.
