Field Trip to Omantel Telecommunication Company

On Tuesday morning, 21 participants embarked on a field trip to Omantel Telecommunication Company with the main objective of learning practices and practical aspects of Talent Management and about the latest advancements in the telecommunications industry. The trip was scheduled to on 07 March 2023, start at 8:00 am and wrap up by 2:00 pm.

 

The purpose of this field trip is to provide an opportunity for students to link theoretical concepts with practical applications. This hands-on experience helps them understand the material better and develop their conceptual and critical thinking abilities. Through engaging activities, interacting with expertise in the field of Talent Management students are eager to learn newfound knowledge, skills in real-world scenarios. Ultimately, the aim of this trip is to ensure that students have a positive and enriching learning experience.

 

Upon arrival, the participants were greeted by the Omantel team who welcomed them to their headquarters. The team was composed of experienced engineers and telecommunication experts who were ready to walk the participants through the different activities of the day as per the agenda.

 

The participants were given a brief tour of the company's premises, including the main objective of the company and its nature and the historical development and related topics to HRM and Talent Management.

 

Next, the participants were enrolled in a workshop training session that covered the various aspects of telecommunication functions relation to managing people, including the practical understanding of the different elements of a successful talent acquisition plan, training and development plan and retention plan. They also gain an appreciation of how these strategies can be integrated to create a cohesive talent management system. Student gained valuable insight into the processes involved in optimizing an organization's human capital.

 

Finally, the participants were given time to discuss and post their questions and quires to enrich their learning process and gain further experiences.

 

By 2:00 pm, the field trip had come to an end, and the participants left Omantel Telecommunication Company with a new set of skills, knowledge, and understanding of the best practices in the telecommunication industry. The excursion had proved to be a success, and the Omantel team had accomplished the main aim of providing an informative and engaging telecommunication experience to the participants in the event.
