Business Studies-Accounting Quiz Competition
Last week, the Business Department's Accounting Section hosted an exciting event, the "Accounting Quiz Competition," which brought together accounting students from both the Advance Diploma and Bachelor levels. This engaging contest unfolded in two exciting phases, starting on October 12th and concluding on October 19th, 2023.
Preliminary Round: E-Learning Engagement
The adventure began with the Preliminary Round, conducted on eLearning platforms, where participants faced 30 challenging Multiple Choice Questions. This was the first round where students put their accounting knowledge to the test.
Phase 2: The Thrilling On-Site Contest
The heart-pounding Phase 2 took place in room N337 on October 19th 2023, with the top six teams who had proven their determination in the Preliminary Round. From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., students, along with senior Accounting staff members, engaged in an intense battle of minds. This face-off was not a single-round affair; it comprised multiple thrilling segments designed to push the participants to their limits. The segments were Rapid fire round, Buzzer round and Elimination round.

The Victors Emerge
As the tension mounted and the scores were calculated, the decisive moment arrived. The panel of judges, consisting of esteemed senior Accounting lecturers, declared Team F as the winners due to their exceptional performance. Team B secured the first runner-up position, while Team C claimed the second runner-up title. These remarkable teams will be honoured with certificates of participation and winning for Phase 2.
Upcoming Challenge: Phase 3 - Inter UTAS Accounting Competition
However, the journey does not stop here. Team F, Team B, and Team C now have their sights set on the Phase 3 - Inter UTAS Accounting Competition, slated for November 15th, 2023. It promises to be an exciting and challenging experience, and we wish them the very best.
Aim Achieved Enhancing Accounting Knowledge
The event was initiated by the Accounting Section with the noble intention of enhancing the accounting knowledge of our students, and we can proudly say that this aim was splendidly achieved. The competition served as a forum for our students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges, fostering a deeper understanding of accounting principles.
