Information Technology Department, UTAS - Nizwa: National and International Research Engagement

The Information Technology Department at University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Nizwa continues to demonstrate its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge and research through active engagement in national and international platforms. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Maha Said Khalfan Al Anqoudi, Head of the Department, and with the constant encouragement of Ms. Suad Abdullah Al-Riyami, Head of Section – Networking/Internet and E-Security, the department fosters a culture of academic excellence and societal contribution.
In alignment with this vision, Dr. Jehan Murugadhas, Networking/Internet and E-Security Section, has been consistently involved in research-based motivational activities. These efforts include organizing and participating in seminars, workshops, webinars, training sessions, and international conferences aimed at enhancing staff engagement and promoting research culture within the academic community.
Recently, Dr. Jehan Murugadhas was honored with an invitation to serve as the Chief Guest at the Two-Day International Conference on “AI and IoT: Revolution of the Smart World”, held at Sacred Heart Arts and Science College, Perani, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, India, on 27th and 28th March 2025.
Dr. Jehan had the privilege of inaugurating the conference by lighting the traditional Kuthuvilakku, marking the beginning of an enlightening and intellectually stimulating event. As the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Jehan delivered a comprehensive and engaging session on the theme “AI and IoT: Revolution of the Smart World”, focusing on the convergence of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things in creating smarter technologies and sustainable environments. The keynote spanned approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, offering insightful perspectives to participants including young researchers, academicians, and industry professionals.
On the second day of the conference, Dr. Jehan was once again honored to deliver the Valedictory Address, reflecting on the event's success, summarizing key insights, and appreciating the active participation of all attendees. Dr. Jehan also had the privilege of distributing certificates to paper presenters, acknowledging their significant contributions to the academic discourse.
The conference was meticulously organized by eminent academic leaders, Rev. Sr. Britto, Secretary, and Dr. David Soundar, Principal of Sacred Heart Arts and Science College. Their dedication ensured a smooth and impactful event that successfully brought together academia and industry to share knowledge, spark innovation, and inspire future collaborations.
Dr. Jehan expressed sincere appreciation to the organizers and extended heartfelt wishes for the continued success of such research-oriented and socially beneficial initiatives.
