CEBA UTAS-Nizwa students emerge as winners at Ibra SDG Poster Competition

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-themed poster competition, hosted by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Ibra, attracted participants from across Oman. Representing UTAS Nizwa were three teams with innovative projects. The winning group, comprising Noor Al Maskari, Safa Al Kind, and Douha Al Riyami, developed "Hand-Up," a digital app aimed at reducing food waste and improving food security. Their solution, recognized for its practicality and scalability, earned them second prize, a cash award of 30 Omani Rials, and certificates of recognition..
The other teams from UTAS Nizwa- Mohammed Al Burtamani, Alaa Al Riyami and Sheikha Al Shaqsi as well as Al Hussein Al Amri and Mariya Al Toubi also impressed with notable projects, including a solar-powered education caravan for rural areas and sustainable infrastructure integrating green stormwater systems. While not prize-winning, these proposals were lauded for their creativity and potential impact. The competition highlighted UTAS Nizwa’s dedication to sustainability, fostering innovation among its students and inspiring a commitment to addressing global challenges.
