Accounting Day
On Nov 5, 2024, the Accounting Section of the College of Economics and Business Administration (CEBA) in collaboration with the Student Development Team (SDT) at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) - Salalah organized the “Accounting Day” for accounting students. The Accounting Day is an annual event that brings together students, faculty and industry professionals to celebrate the dynamic world of accounting. The event provided a platform to explore the latest trends in the accounting profession, share knowledge, and highlight the importance of accounting in shaping business success. The day commenced with a welcome address by the Head of CEBA – Dr. Ghanim Shamas.
The Keynote speech was given by an outstanding Diploma Accounting student Ali Mohammed Al Shahri. There was also an awareness session about the salient points in the New College Bylaws and the Accounting Curriculum which was delivered by Dr. Neil Raymond. An engaging session on the ACCA professional certification, its benefits and requirements were shared by Mr. Pavan Kumar. Moreover, an invited guest from the Royal Court Affairs, Ms. Haifa Awadh Hazaji Bai Alzain- Senior Audit Specialist, shared a very insightful and inspiring talk about the different fields of the Accounting profession. Furthermore, the search for Accounting Model Students for the current academic year was also launched and presented by Dr. Rathna Chellappa.
The Accounting day was well attended by all accounting faculty members and the students from Accounting Specialization. The programme was part of the continuing efforts of the department to bring awareness to the students regarding their respective specializations and provide a platform where they can foster collaborations and build networks from among their peers.
The event successfully achieved its goals of fostering learning and collaboration. By connecting students, educators and the industry, the Accounting Day inspired future accountants, leaving them motivated and better prepared for their future careers.
