DEBA conducts a Hands-on Session on Moodle Gradebook Management

The Department of Economics and Business Administration (DEBA) commenced its first professional development activity of the academic year with a hands-on session on “Moodle Gradebook Management” on 7 September 2026 at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) – Nizwa. The session was organized by the Digital Transformation Team in coordination with the Professional Development Program (PDP) of DEBA.

The session commenced with an introduction by Mr Rameshrishna PN, Team Leader, Digital Transformation and welcome address by Dr Abdul Kadir, a member of Digital Transformation Team who welcomed the resource person and participants and highlighted the relevance of strengthening digital competencies to support effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices.

The session was facilitated by Ms Alice Lontok, Lecturer, Department of Computing and Information Systems, who provided practical guidance on effectively managing student grades using the Moodle Learning Management System.

The hands-on session covered setting up and organizing the Moodle Gradebook, creating and managing grade items and categories, entering and updating student grades, and configuring grade calculations and weightings according to course assessment requirements. Participants were also guided on managing and reviewing student grade reports, understanding common Gradebook settings, and resolving basic grading issues.

Through demonstrations and hands-on activities, participants had the opportunity to explore Moodle Gradebook features and strengthen their ability to maintain accurate, organized, and transparent assessment records.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Nitin Goel, member of Digital Transformation Team who expressed appreciation to the resource person for sharing her expertise and to all the participants for their active involvement in the session.

The program reflects the department’s continued commitment to professional development, digital transformation, and the effective integration of technology in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
