CEBA-Nizwa bags numerous awards in competitions around Oman

 

CEBA students were invited to participate in several academic and skills competition, which were organized and sponsored by other UTAS branches and other Universities/ Colleges in Oman. These competitions stretched to almost the whole month of April 2024. Inspired by the leadership of the branch’s Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammed Al Mamari and the Deputy Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Academics, Dr. Sara Al Balani, the CEBA organized teams who represented the department in different academic and skills competitions in Muscat and other governorates around the Sultanate.

Through the guidance and support of CEBA HoD, Mrs. Hajar Al Nabhani and the HoS’s of the department, Mrs. Turkiya Al Busaidi (Marketing), Mr. Khalid Al Shanfari (Human Resource), Mr. Talal Al Bulushi (Accounting), the department sent a contingent composed of 22 students to academic and skills competition sponsored by Sultan Qaboos University, UTAS-Shinas, Middle East College, and UTAS-Ibra.

The CEBA Business Society and Student Competition Team composed of Mrs. Asila Al Hinai (Team Coordinator), Dr. Maria Carmen Vidal, Dr. Uma Thirapathy, Mr. Sibi Chacho, Mrs. Farha Hassan, and Mr. Mudasir Shagoo, with the support of HoD took the responsibility of scouting for participants.

In the preparation stage, the students were coached and assisted by the BS&SC Team with the help of Dr. Elbert Bryan Vidal, Dr. Abdulkadir Shehu Abdulwahab, Mrs. Aminah Abd Razk. Dr. Vishnu Rao and Mrs. Habiba Al Salti accompanied the students to their respective competitions.

Through the hard work and determination of the students and the coaching team, the students garnered accolades in almost all of the competitions that they joined.

In the 2nd International Quiz Bee Competition hosted by UTAS-Shinas, the UTAS-Nizwa delegates made it in the Top 9 and Top 11 of the 24 teams who came from Universities in India, UAE, the Philippines, and Oman. Considering the technical challenges, the UTAS-Nizwa team, which was represented by Khadija Al Mahrouqi (Marketing Specialization) and Nouha Al Shueili (HR specialization) fought hard to earn a spot in the Top 10.

The second event that UTAS-Nizwa participated was the Sultan Qaboos University Accounting Quiz Bee. This competition was participated by numerous universities all over Oman. In this competition, the Nizwa team bagged Third Place. The Nizwa team was comprised of students- Yaseen Said Ali Hamed Al-Rubkhi, Al-Muataz Salim Obaid AlShoukri and Yaseen Abdul Aziz Al Saghri, who are all from the Accounting Section.

The third competition that was entered by UTAS-Nizwa was the 14th MEC Business Meet hosted by the Middle East College. The UTAS-Nizwa delegation joined in 4 of the 5 events, of which, they bagged First Place on the Pep Talk Competition which was represented by Yaseen Abdul Aziz Al Saygh. In the Brandathon Competition,
Azza Abdul Aziz Al Rahbi (Accounting), Al Hussain Ali Mubarak Al Aamri (Accounting) and Douha Mubarak Al Rawahi bagged the First-runner up award. The Nizwa team also won third Place in the Accounting and Finance Case Competition which was represented by Salama Khalifa Al Shuraiqi, Azza Abdul Aziz Al Rahbi and Arwa Sulaiman Al Rashdi.

Finally during the Innovatia 2024 which was conducted last May 1, 2024 by UTAS-Ibra, the UTAS- Nizwa delegation again was victorious for winning in the two out of the four events that Nizwa participated i.e. Live Podcast (First Place) and DigiContent (Third Place). The Live Podcast team was represented by Buthaina Saleem Al Abri, Hakema Saif Said Al Durai and Nawal Khamis Sultan Al Darai while the Digicontent team was comprised of Khalid Khalifa Hamed Al Waaili, Muhand Saif Al Hashemi and Mohammed Ghadeer Muslem Al Ghawi.

Winning in such competitions bring pride to the faculty and management of CEBA and the whole university and provides a validation of the talents and skills of the students which they have enhanced though their studies.
