Staff Development Training Program on Advanced Web Technologies Using MERN STACK

To keep abreast of rapidly evolving technology and prepare for the upcoming Spring Semester, the College of Computing and Information Sciences initiated a Staff Development Training Program designed to enhance the technical knowledge and skills of the Lecturers and improve the delivery of the courses to the students.

The first Staff Development Training Program which focused on Advanced Web Technologies using MERN STACK and was led by experienced instructors, Ms. Jasmin Tumulak and Mr. Tarek Fatnassi, was conducted on January 28-29, 2024

The program was attended by six staff members who were eager to enhance their skills in dynamic and responsive web application development.

The first day of the training program was dedicated to front-end development, focusing on React and Bootstrap. On the second day, the focus shifted to back-end development, covering Express, Node.js, and MongoDB.

The workshop aimed to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Demonstrate client-side development using React.
  2. Provide a practical example of a CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) application using the MERN stack.
  3. Enhance lecturers' skills in supervising and guiding MERN stack-based course projects.

Mr. Suresh Kumar, one of the attendees, expressed his satisfaction with the training program, stating, "The trainers' approach was very effective. Basic and important constructs of all these technologies were introduced and then put together to develop a CRUD application." He emphasized that the training was invaluable for jumpstarting web application development using the MERN stack, particularly benefiting students engaged in their course projects.

The Staff Development Training Program on Advanced Web Technologies using the MERN STACK proved to be a valuable initiative, equipping participants with practical skills and knowledge essential for staying at the forefront of web application development. As technology continues to advance, such programs play a crucial role in ensuring that educators are well-prepared to guide students in the ever-evolving world of web development.
