Seminar on "Effective Study Skills and Time Management”

On December 3, 2024, the Student Development Team and Business Club at the College of Economics and Business Administration (CEBA), Salalah, hosted an engaging online webinar titled "Data Analysis through Econometric Fundamentals: A Guide for Beginners." The session, held from 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM, aimed to enhance graduating students' understanding of econometric concepts and their application in research. Dr. Sohail Amjed, a distinguished academic and practitioner, served as the resource person

 for the event.

Dr. Sohail focused on key topics such as the fundamentals of econometrics, types and sources of data for research, essential econometric techniques, and the importance of secondary data. He emphasized the advantages of using secondary data, including cost efficiency and the availability of longitudinal data. He also addressed challenges such as data bias, missing values, and multicollinearity, offering practical solutions for overcoming these issues.

The webinar concluded with an introduction to popular econometric software tools, including Stata, EViews, SPSS, and R. Dr. Sohail provided insights into the strengths of each tool, helping students choose the best fit for their research. The interactive session allowed attendees to ask questions, and students expressed appreciation for the clarity of the explanations and relevance of the examples shared.

Dr. Rathna Chellappa, in her closing remarks, thanked Dr. Sohail for his valuable insights and engaging presentation. Dr. Neil Raymond also expressed gratitude to the participants for their active involvement, noting the webinar’s success in equipping students with essential knowledge for their research endeavors.
