Celebrating the World at the FESTIVAL of Festivals

Once again, Level 3 students and teachers organized an event that inspired students to work together as a team with a common goal – to bring everyone together for a fun-filled day of learning. This activity was headed by Ms. Huria Al Balushi, Student Competitions and Social Activities Committee Coordinator, in collaboration with Dr. Binu Mathew and Level 3 teachers. The event was graced by Dr. Nihad Al Zadjali (DAVCAA), Dr. Monia Al Farsi (DAVCES), Mr. Juma Al Ghafri (Head of PSC) and other UTAS-A officials.
Festival of Festivals was attended by university students, officials, and guests from neighboring schools, who enjoyed discovering a thing or two about the various aspects of global traditions and festivities as well as learning specific characteristics of each celebration being held in different countries. The 22 groups of Level 3 students represented different festivals around the world of which origins can be traced way back hundred years ago. The different cultures, traditions and religions turned into what is now a celebration of unity, success, and happiness for people all over the world.
Students displayed their talents by decorating each booth with colorful designs, preparing fun games, and foods. Delivering informative speeches about the festival of each country allowed the participating students to showcase their proficiency in the English language.

The different festivals showcased were: Gasparilla (Pirate) Festival of USA, Varvadar (water) Festival of Armenia, Diwali and Holi Festivals of India, Lanterns and Flower Festivals of Thailand, Al Dafra and Gulf Cars Festivals of UAE, Venice Carnival and the Regata Storica Festival of Italy, Pahiyas Festival of the Philippines, Yeouido (Cherry Blossoms) Festival of Korea, Iberian Mask Festival of Portugal, Cosplay Festival of Japan, Douz Sahara Festival of Tunisia, Riyadh season of KSA, Basant - Spring Festival, Pakistan, Sham el-Nessim of Egypt, Dragon Festival of China, The Great Dragon Parade of Poland, Midsummer Festival of Sweden, Mevlana Festival of Turkey and FIFA Festival being enjoyed around the world by sports enthusiasts.
