New Students Induction Program

The Department of Business Studies held a new students induction program in ELC Hall on 18th September 2024. Dr. Habiba Al-Mughairi, Head, Department of Business Studies, welcomed the students and introduced new students to Department of Business Studies. She motivated the students to perform well in both academic and extra-curricular activities.
Ms. Mary Pauline, a faculty member, and Mrs. Fatma Suleiman Amur Al Saifi, from the Quality Assurance Department, provided an overview of the University's strategic plan 2022- 2025 by emphasizing its vision for the future. They also highlighted the institution's dedication to Quality Assurance, ensuring high academic standards and student satisfaction.
Mr. Asad Salim Said Al Kasbi, Staff of counselling, motivated the students and elaborated on the various support services available in the Student Affairs department. He highlighted that the students could approach counseling services whenever they face any difficulties. He informed the students that the counseling department would help to overcome students’ personal problems so that they can focus well on studies.
Ms. Jasmine, Lecturer briefed the students on the Department Society and Extra-curricular activities. She shared information on the opportunities available for the students to participate in the student competitions both internal and external.
Dr. Issa Saleh Hamood Al Amri, counselor, provided valuable insights to students about the advising and counseling services available to them. He encouraged students to excel academically and recommended attending tutorials for a better grasp of concepts through the online tutorial system. He urged students to regularly meet with their advisors for academic guidance. Additionally, he explained the registration process, academic probation, GPA and CGPA calculations, and the academic requirements necessary for progressing to the next level. He also discussed the procedures for improving and withdrawing from courses in accordance with university bylaws.
Mr. Marwan Ahmed Al-Shidhani, a bachelor’s student, and Ms. Hanan Said Saleh Al Muqaimi, a department alumna, delivered a motivational talk emphasizing the importance of following advisors' guidance when completing courses. They shared their personal experiences with the new students, illustrating how it contributed to their success in both academic and extracurricular activities. Additionally, they encouraged students to actively participate in various competitions, both within and outside the university, for further personal and academic growth.
Dr. Ananth Anthonisamy, faculty, discussed Health & Safety measures ensuring students' wellbeing within the college premises. He also explained the evacuation procedures when there is an emergency condition. Finally, he concluded the program with a vote of thanks.
