SP Awareness Session and Student Advising and Registration

The Department of Business Studies Quality Assurance coordinator and Registrar conducted a joint awareness session on Strategic Planning (SP) and Student Advising and Registration on September 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at BS132. This session aimed to foster alignment, accountability, and communication among staff members in preparation for the new academic year.

The first session centered on the discussion of UTAS Strategic Plan for Academic Year 2024-2025. Dr. R. Nithya encouraged everyone to make sure that the department and committee level action plans are aligned with UTAS’ strategic plan, vision, mission and long-term objectives. Ms. Pauleen Santos discussed the Staff and Students’ Satisfaction Survey Results of the immediately preceding year, highlighting the strongest and weakest areas/domain of the satisfaction survey. Recommendations and actions for improvement were formulated and forwarded to the concerned unit.

Mr. Abdullah Thanseer, department’s registrar, presented the updated academic bylaws and programs. He revisited the applicable rules and regulations of Bylaws and Degree Audit for both version 4 and 5 students. He underscored the importance of providing correct advice to students following strict compliance with UTAS policies and procedures.

At the end of the session, the staff were given the chance to present their advisees’ special cases. The department’s registrar addressed and clarified the issues with reference to the new bylaws.
