Guest Lecture on Supply Chain and Logistics Management

The Department of Economics and Business Administration at UTAS-Ibra organized an insightful guest lecture on “Supply Chain and Logistics Management” on 12 February 2026 at 10:00 AM in BS102 for students enrolled in the Principles of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Diploma I) course. The session was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Al Balushi, Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Muscat, and a seasoned professional with experience across academia and international logistics organizations. Dr. Al Balushi provided students with a comprehensive overview of supply chain and logistics management, highlighting its vital role in connecting suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers, and emphasizing its significant contribution to economic growth, trade efficiency, and business competitiveness.

Drawing from his professional experience in logistics planning, procurement, and corporate performance analysis, Dr. Al Balushi shared practical real-world examples that illustrated the importance of strategic sourcing, operational coordination, and data-driven decision-making. He also discussed current challenges facing the industry, including global disruptions, sustainability concerns, and the increasing need for digital transformation. The session further introduced students to diverse career opportunities in procurement, operations, transportation, and supply chain analytics, encouraging them to develop strong analytical and technological skills to succeed in this dynamic field.
