Development of Practical Skills in the Use of DBMS Software

The Department of Engineering conducted a workshop on “Development of Practical Skills in the Use of DBMS Software” on 4th November 2025, from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM. A total of 6 students attended this hands-on training session. Since DBMS is widely used as the backend in many student projects, it is essential for learners to gain a solid understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). RDBMS forms the backbone of almost every industry where data plays a crucial role, such as banking, automation, business, and many other sectors.

During the workshop, students received practical training in Oracle DBMS. The session began with an introduction by Dr. Amjath Ali, who discussed real-world applications of DBMS along with fundamental DDL commands. The workshop then continued with Mr. Mujeebudheen Khan, who explained Oracle software operations and demonstrated DML commands in detail. Mr. Amer Noor Khan also contributed by guiding students through additional query-building techniques and clarifying key concepts related to relational models, ensuring they gained a holistic understanding of DBMS operations.

Practical guidance and technical support were provided throughout the session by technicians Mr. Haji Ali and Ms. Asma Al-Manji, helping students complete their queries successfully and resolve debugging challenges. Students were given structured practical exercises, strengthening their ability to solve complex queries and boosting their confidence in using DBMS tools effectively. Handouts were also distributed to support continued learning. The session concluded with feedback from the participants.
