UTAS–Ibra Hosts Successful OCPC Sub-Regional Programming Contest 2026
IBRA, Oman — The OCPC Sub-Regional Programming Contest 2026 was successfully held at University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Ibra on April 25, 2026, bringing together talented student programmers from various institutions across the region. The event ran from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, showcasing a full day of intense competition, collaboration, and innovation.
To assess their programming abilities, logical reasoning, and teamwork under time constraints, participants competed in teams and completed several difficult algorithmic and problem-solving tasks. The competition adhered to international competitive programming standards, demonstrating the increasing significance of these kinds of events in fostering students' technical proficiency.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Hafedh Said Abdullah Al-Rahbi - Assistant Vice Chancellor – UTAS – Ibra and Dr. Abdullah Khalfan Hamood Al Azri - Deputy of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs - UTAS–Ibra, who expressed their strong support for initiatives that promote excellence in computing and innovation among students. Their attendance highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of academic and professional growth in information technology.
Following a very competitive round of scoring and evaluation, the top three teams were announced as winners. These teams have been selected to represent the sub-region in the October 2026 Oman Collegiate Programming Contest. In addition to being a qualifying round for the national competition, the OCPC Sub-Regional Contest at UTAS–Ibra gave students a chance to improve their abilities, connect with classmates, and obtain useful experience in competitive programming.
The event concluded with an awarding ceremony, recognizing the outstanding performance and dedication of all participants. With the success of this year’s competition, UTAS–Ibra continues to establish itself as a hub for academic excellence and innovation in the Sultanate, paving the way for future programmers to excel on national and international stages.
