Workshop Report: Ethical Guidelines in Research – Fostering Integrity and Trust

 

The Department of Business Studies at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Ibra, in collaboration with the Research and Consultancy Department and the Staff Development Committee, successfully organized a thought-provoking workshop titled “Ethical Guidelines in Research: Fostering Integrity and Trust” on 10th December 2024.

The session was led by Professor Stanislav Ivanov who serves as a Professor at Varna University of Management, Bulgaria, and the Director of the Zangador Research Institute. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the critical role of ethical practices in academic research and their importance in fostering integrity and trust within the academic and professional communities.

Professor Ivanov’s presentation emphasized core principles of ethical research, such as transparency, honesty, and accountability. He addressed critical topics, including safeguarding participant rights, maintaining data integrity, avoiding plagiarism, and ensuring proper authorship practices. Using insightful examples and real-world case studies, Professor Ivanov engaged the participants and provided practical approaches to addressing ethical dilemmas in research.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to discuss specific challenges, they face in their research work. Professor Ivanov’s willingness to share his knowledge and expertise left a lasting impression on the audience. Furthermore, he kindly shared his presentation materials for attendees’ reference, enabling continued learning beyond the session.
