Workshop Report "Designing Effective Questionnaires: A Step-by-Step Workshop"

University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) Ibra ,The Department of Business Studies organized a workshop titled "Designing Effective Questionnaires: A Step-by-Step Workshop", which took place on December 10, 2024, at 12:10 PM in BS 132. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Ananth Anthonisamy, who provided participants with a thorough understanding of the questionnaire design process, incorporating key principles from the literature review, scale development, and ensuring validity and reliability in data collection. The session covered critical aspects such as identifying research objectives, formulating questions that aligned with these objectives, and selecting appropriate question types and formats. It also addressed the importance of scale development for accurate measurement, exploring strategies to ensure the validity of the questionnaire—both content and construct—and methods to assess its reliability through techniques such as test-retest and internal consistency.

Additionally, participants were guided on how to refine questionnaires to eliminate biases and improve the clarity of questions. Through practical exercises, students gained hands-on experience in developing and refining their questionnaires, ensuring they were both reliable and valid for research purposes.

This workshop reinforced the department’s commitment to academic excellence and student development by equipping participants with essential research skills necessary for both academic success and professional growth. It provided students with the tools to approach data collection with scientific rigor, thereby enhancing the quality and reliability of their research endeavors.
