The mission of the Photography Department is to achieve and sustain an ongoing level of excellence in teaching, informing and inspiring our students.
The department is dedicated to the delivery of high-quality technical instruction as well as a sophisticated level of aesthetic education and aims to produce graduates who have the professional and personal skills to operate in the global media/advertising market or enter employment with confidence, contributing effectively to the Sultanate's ongoing creative and economic development.

This course is an introduction to photography and how to use a DSLR as a tool for image making. Students will also understand the creative process and develop a basic understanding of the visual elements used in visual communication.
In this course, students are introduced to Adobe Photoshop and develop the skills to manipulate digital images using masks, channels and selections. Camera RAW is also covered in this course.
Students in this course gain a broad knowledge of the history of photography. Each week a new topic is covered highlighting the leaders in early photographic practice as an art an as a recording medium.
Photographic Technology 1 dives into the science behind the camera, how images are exposed, and how to digital photography relates to traditional photography.

Advanced Adobe Photoshop is a continuation of the introduction course. Here students learn more advanced techniques to enhance digital images.
In this course, students broaden their photography skills by incorporating different lighting tools and understanding different photographic industries.
In this course, students learn about the trailblazers in photography as an art genre.
Introduction to Photographic Technology 2 builds on the foundation in exposing for ambient light to include flash photography. Studio and location lighting are discussed and practiced in the environmental portraiture genre.
Advanced Photography 1 is a course where students learn how to use multiple images to build professional compositions in the genre of architectural photography.
In this course, students learn basic filmmaking practices from pre-production, and production, to postproduction.
This course focuses on the postproduction step of digital filmmaking and covers the editing using modern non-linear editing software
Portfolio Construction takes students who are completing their first year and requires them to apply all their skill into a long-term portfolio project. Students work one on one with their instructor to meet the outcomes of the course.
This course is the place where students practice speaking and writing about images and learn the importance of constructive criticism.
Here students develop the skills to create engaging, well-lit portraits. Skills covered are advanced lighting setups, working with subjects, digital retouching, and the effectiveness of portraits that convey ideas.
A continuation of the Filmmaking 1 course. Here students build on their skills and work on various genres of films
Students build their final portfolio in this course and attend workshops on marketing best practices in photographic industry.
This course focuses on advanced techniques of the post-production step of digital filmmaking and covers the use of Adobe Premiere non-linear editing software.
