Semester 1

The course is aimed at enhancing students’ academic skills by exposing them to academic modes of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course also aims at enabling students to participate in academic discussions of lectures through strategic listening and speaking and to improve their reflective writing and speaking skills through summarizing and paraphrasing various scientific and technological topics.

The course aims to provide the underpinning knowledge in Engineering Drawing and enable the students to produce high quality engineering drawing using manual and computer aided drafting techniques.

The course aims to provide the fundamental underpinning knowledge in Physics mainly related to the topics on measurements, motion, energy, power, optics and sound.

The course aims to introduce the students to the basic concepts of engineering chemistry which form an integral part of those majoring in Engineering and an essential background for those majoring in other disciplines

The course aims to equip the graduates with problem solving, programming skills and to apply real time programming approaches in all engineering disciplines through any latest computer programming languages like python.

The course aims to provide an understanding and awareness of workplace hazards, risks and industrial safety and to impart necessary skills and competence.

The course aims to equip and enhance the students with hands on structured experience on basic engineering practices adhering to safety regulations.

The course aims to provide the fundamental underpinning knowledge in Physics mainly related to the topics on electricity, electromagnetism, heat, thermodynamics and modern physics.

The course aims to introduce students to renewable energy resources: availability, potential and suitability as a substitute for conventional energy resources for future energy demands.

This course is offered to students in the Diploma level. The course aims at enabling the students to communicate effectively and appropriately, based on real-life and workplace situations. The course equips the students with the necessary language and contextual knowledge. The students will be engaged in tasks where they demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills to solve life and workplace related problems.

The course deals with the introduction to entrepreneurship; business knowledge; accounting and finance; management and marketing; operation management; understanding the ecosystem; some applications and project presentations.

The course aims to introduce the students to basic knowledge related to the Architectural Design process through conventional drawing terminology and modeling techniques of a Project with a size of (100-200) SQM.

The course aims to emphasize the means of communication and vocabulary through manual drawings and sketching methods on the basis of drawing principles and techniques.

The course aims to impart knowledge about the principles of surveying, use a range of survey equipment in the field to measure and prepare the required data for civil engineering works.

The course aims to introduce the students to the basic drawings principle and techniques for freehand drawings and model making techniques .

The course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of basic materials and components, their usage in structures, and the types of foundations and walling systems.

The course aims to review the important features of local architecture and develop an understanding of Omani vernacular architecture including villages, urban settlements, architectural elements, building materials, climatic considerations, and the factors influencing architectural style and society.

The course aims to impart the basic knowledge of structural analysis and design of structural elements for simple buildings.

The course aims to provide the students to apply the necessary technical knowledge and skills to successfully complete the project work appropriate to the level.

  9.  Supervise work on site after gaining sufficient experience under the supervision of professionals.

Allotment to the Architecture Engineering specialization is based on the CGPA scored by the student in First Year Diploma. Requirements to progress to Advanced Diploma in Architectural Engineering:

  1. Student must complete Diploma in Architecture Engineering successfully with CGPA ≥ 2.5 in scale of 4.
  2. IELTS band Score ≥4.5 or the FDL Mark should be ≥ 64 (Reference: 1. MoMP Bylaws of College of Technology & its Amendments).

The course aims to enable the students to understand the world history of Architecture from the Pre-Historic period to the 12th century.

The course aims for the students to explore the principles of multidisciplinary design for long-span structures, emphasizing the structural systems, materials, and details for the project size (3500-5500) m2.

The course aims to introduce the student to basic theory and concepts of Water Supply, Drainage and Sanitation, HVAC, Fire Regulations, and Electrical Services as they pertain to the construction of buildings.

This is a non-major graduate credit course, which is designed to improve student performance in public speaking and oral communication. The course aims to improve the learner's presentation skills, entrepreneurial skills and critical thinking for a level that meets the learner's needs in various academic situations and the labour market. The course covers speech research, preparation, outlining, delivery and evaluation.

The course aims to introduce the students to local climatic issues and architectural design relating to human thermal comfort in the built environment and also address the elements of the building envelope and sustainable design strategies.

Prerequisite: EGAR3150
The course aims to introduce the students to the history, need, importance, and scope of design theories in an architectural context and also explore new theories, studies, and concepts integrated into the architectural design context.

The course aims the students to demonstrate their understanding of repetitive structural elements, circulation spaces, building services, construction techniques, and contextual considerations incorporating the relevant elements in the design of a complex residential project within a city context. [Site Area should lie in between 45000 sq. mt. - 60000 sq.mt.]

The course aims to introduce the students to the history, need, importance, and scope of conservation in an architectural context and emerge confident on how to conserve, restored, and renovate the historical sites in Oman.

The course aims to enable the students to understand the world history of Architecture from the end of 12th-century architecture to contemporary architecture.

The course aims for the students to develop an ability to investigate the complex architectural design project involving an in-depth study and programmatic proposal to support the development of a design solution .

Semester 2

Prerequisite: EGAR4180 The course aims to provide an overview of the historical sites in Oman through analytical research, documentation, and heritage management to enhance the tourism industry in Oman through the conservation and development of its historic sites.

The course aims to introduce the student to basic theory and concepts of lighting and Acoustics as they pertain in the construction of buildings and provide knowledge on the underlying concepts of intelligent building and integrated system connections, advanced building services, inclusive of high-rise buildings and concepts of sustainable development in housing design.

The course aims to introduce the student to the discipline of landscape design, develop analytical and planning skills for Architectural project sites, and design skills for small landscape projects.

The course aims to acquire the knowledge in project planning and management with essential components in management principles.

The course aims to help students gain the ability to propose design solutions for the complex architectural design project developed in B.Tech Project Phase I by integrating all the accumulated resources from their studies of the selected building typology.
