Welcome to the Preparatory Studies Center (PSC) at UTAS!
The General Foundation Program (GFP) at UTAS prepares students for successful progression into their academic programs.
The GFP consists of four components:
-
- instead of only the first:
-
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Computing Skills
- General Study Skills (GSS)
GSS learning outcomes are embedded across the GFP components. The GFP has a flexible structure, with all courses offered every semester to meet students’ needs. Students register for the required components and successfully complete them to progress to the next level or complete the program.
The General Foundation Program (GFP) consists of three main subject areas: English Language, Mathematics, and Computing Skills, as shown below.

Each semester, foundation students must register for and successfully complete the required GFP courses to progress to the next level or complete the program.
