The Gelatous team (UTAS-Sur), led by Dr. Avnish Pareek, won the award for best innovative product in the university category at the 2024 Injaz Al Arab Middle East competition held in Dubai.

At the OQ8 event in Duqm (a joint Hackathon and Civil Society event), Dr. Avnish Pareek's Gelatous team won first place in the civil society category and fourth place in the Hackathon.

Dr. Amal Al Rahbi and her students achieved 3rd place among 100 scientific research entries from across Arab countries in a competition at Doha University of Science and Technology in Qatar. The competition addressed the challenges and opportunities for building resilience in water and food security systems under climate change. As a specific research contribution, the study focused on the invention of capsulated fertilizers utilizing marble waste material.

Dr. Pankaj Sah and his students were awarded Best Poster Presentation for their work on ‘Isolation and characterization of indigenous Coscinodiscus as a potential feedstock for biodiesel production.

UTAS Chemistry project students, supervised by Dr. Amal Al Rahbi, received this award at the Innovation Competition during the 17th Leaders of Tomorrow event in Dubai, UAE.
