Welcome to the page of the Department of Educational Studies:
Situated within the esteemed academic framework of our UTAS Rustaq, the department is specialized in qualifying the student teacher educationally and professionally, by developing their skills in the competencies of planning, implementing and evaluating the educational process, managing the classroom effectively, taking into account the psychological and social aspects of the students, optimal use of technology in educational situations, and providing the student with scientific research skills and developing their abilities to research, investigate, and work in order to solve educational problems related to teachers, students, and the educational environment.
The Department of Educational Studies consists of three main units: Curriculum and Teaching Methods, Educational Technology, Psychology, and Educational Foundations and Administration. It comprises of a group of distinguished professors with experience in various fields of education; they represent a modern extension of the department’s thought and future directions, enabling them to contribute effectively to the college’s various programs.
Through collaborative efforts with other academic departments, the Department of Educational Studies aims at preparing students educationally, academically and professionally to qualify them as future teachers in their field of academic specialization through the department’s modules that fall within its specialization for the bachelor’s level.

The department actively oversees the pedagogical administration of courses within its three units, coupled with meticulous oversight of the Field Practical Education program through planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation.
The department carries out its assigned roles within the college by actively aligning its efforts with the overarching of vision, mission, and values stemming from the strategic plan of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and the policies and procedures that emerge from it that help achieve the Oman 2040 vision, and through the department’s operational plans that are reflected in all its activities and tasks.
Beyond the institutional scope, the department substantially contributes to providing educational services and consultations to individuals and educational institutions. To fulfill university objectives, the department actively engages in various academic events associated with community service and continuous learning in line with the requirements of sustainable development and future skills to achieve an educational system characterized by high quality and community partnership. This helps to create a robust scholarly foundation for human capabilities in the educational sector and an effective national system enriched by rigorous research, innovation, and creativity, aligning with the visionary trajectory outlined in Oman 2040 and ultimately fostering the evolution of a knowledge-based economy.
