UTAS Muscat Celebrates World Statistics Day 2025

 

UTAS Muscat celebrated World Statistics Day 2025 under the global theme “Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone”, organized by the Department of Supporting Requirements in collaboration with the Continuous Education and Community Services (CECS) and CASIO Middle East & Africa.

 

The highlight of the event was the Data Hackathon Challenge 2025, which brought together 32 teams from different Universities across Oman to showcase their analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

The first prize was won Ms. Rahaf Abubaker Mustafa Mubarak and Ms. Marwa Naser Mohammad Ahlet — UTAS Muscat, Mr. Mohammed Azharruddin and Mr. Muhammad Qaim from MEC, Muscat secured the second position followed by Ms. Maryam Dawood and Ms. Shaima Hussein Al Harthi — CBFS, Muscat.

 

The event also featured an inspiring talk, “AI Curious to AI Serious”, by 16-year-old innovator Mr. Raul John Aju, encouraging students to embrace creativity and humanity in the AI era. Prizes were awarded by Dr. Khalid Salim Al-Abri, Deputy of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, in the presence of Dr. Bushra Al Sulaimi, Head of the Department of Supporting Requirements, and representatives from CASIO.
