Oratory Odyssey

The English Society conducted the Oratory Odyssey, a speaking competition for the students of level 3 Foundation Program. It provided a platform for 13 students to engage in a lively debate on the topic: "ChatGPT is a Threat to Higher Education" with six of them speaking in favor and seven against the topic. The event showcased the diversity of opinions and perspectives among the participants.

The competition was marked by passionate arguments and well-researched points. Students delved into various aspects of the topic, with some providing compelling statistics to support their positions. The competition highlighted the importance of considering multiple viewpoints on complex issues, fostering critical thinking and respectful dialogue.

Overall, the Oratory Odyssey was a fun and exciting event, offering a platform for students to hone their speaking skills and engage in meaningful discourse. Participants expressed satisfaction with the event, citing its educational value and the opportunity to engage in public speaking. There is a clear demand for more activities like the Oratory Odyssey, indicating a desire among students to develop their speaking skills and engage in debates and discussions. The best three speakers of the Competition were Rayan Issa Salim Al Nuumani, Wesal Saleh Al Abdali and Wasaif Humaid Al Kasbi.
