الأمراض النادرة والفحوص الجينية قبل الزواج (المشروع التوعوي الجينوم والجينات للشباب)

حتفل العالم في 29 فبراير من كل عام، باليوم العالمي للأمراض النادرة. بهدف نشر الوعي بالأمراض النادرة واحتياجاتها. تُعرف الأمراض النادرة عندما تكون نسبة ظهورها في المجتمع أقل من ١ بين كل ٢٠٠٠ شخص ويُقدر عددها بأكثر من ٦٠٠٠ مرض حول العالم، وتصيب أكثر من ٤ ملايين شخص. تُنظم عيادة الطب الوراثي والتطوري بمستشفى جامعة السلطان قابوس سنويًا فعاليات توعوية مجتمعية متنوعة في هذا الحدث العالمي، بهدف جذب فئة الشباب لنشر الوعي بأهمية التعرف على هذه الأمراض والخدمات المتاحة للتشخيص وطرق تجنب تكرار الإصابة عن طريق الفحص الوراثي قبل الزواج في حالة وجود تاريخ مرضي في العائلة. بالإضافة إلى الفحص عن أمراض الدم الوراثية في مراكز الرعاية الصحية. قام قسم الصيدلة بجامعة التقنية والعلوم التطبيقية يوم الثلاثاء الموافق ١٩ من مارس بدعوة فريق الطب الوراثي من قسم الوراثة بمستشفى جامعة السلطان قابوس لتقديم محاضرة توعوية تفاعلية لطلاب وموظفين الجامعة بعنوان المشروع التوعوي الجينات والجينوم للشباب: الأمراض النادرة والفحوصات الجينية قبل الزواج، حيث تمت مناقشة واقع الأمراض الوراثية النادرة وطرق تجنب الإصابة بها في الأجيال المستقبلية. قدمت فيها الدكتورة فرح الكندي محاضرة عن الأمراض الوراثية النادرة في عمان تلتها الفاضلة خالصة الخروصي والفاضلة أمل الفوري وتحدثوا عن الاضطرابات الوراثية النادرة والفحص الوراثي قبل الزواج وبعد ذلك تفضل الفاضل أسامة المحروقي بتقديم تجربته مع اضطراب وراثي نادر. وقد تم غلق المحاضرة بمسابقات مع جوائز من تقديم الفاضلة أصيلة الحبسي والفاضلة انتصار الهدابية . والشكر موصول للدكتورة منى آل جمعة رئيسة قسم الصيدلة ولجميع الحضور من موظفين وطلاب لحضورهم هذه المحاضرة.

The world celebrates on the 29th of February every year the World Rare Disease Day. This is aimed at raising awareness about rare diseases and their needs. Rare diseases are known when their occurrence rate in society is less than 1 in every 2,000 people, with their number estimated at more than 6,000 diseases worldwide, affecting over 4 million people. The Clinical Genetics and Evolutionary Medicine Clinic at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital organizes various community awareness events annually at this global event, aiming to attract young people to raise awareness about the importance of knowing these diseases, the available diagnostic services, and ways to prevent recurrence through genetic testing before marriage in case of a family medical history. Additionally, screening for hereditary blood disorders is conducted at healthcare centers. The Pharmacy Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences invited the Genetic Medicine team from the Genetics Department at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital on Tuesday, March 19th, to present an interactive awareness lecture titled "Genes and Genomes Awareness Project for Youth: Rare Diseases and Genetic Testing Before Marriage," where the reality of rare genetic diseases and ways to avoid them in future generations were discussed. Dr. Farah Al-Kindi delivered a lecture on rare genetic diseases in Oman, followed by Mrs. Khalsa Al-Kharusi and Mrs. Amal Al-Fouri discussing rare genetic disorders and genetic testing before marriage. Then, Mr. Osama Al-Mahruqi shared his experience with a rare genetic disorder. The lecture concluded with competitions and prizes presented by Mrs. Aseela Al-Habsi and Mrs. Intisar Al-Hadabi. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Muna Al-Juma, Head of the Pharmacy Department, and to all attendees, including staff and students, for their participation in this lecture.
